Back in the 50's I would drive down to Judique from Halifax after work on a Friday night for the dance. . I remember in the winter the "Pot Bellied Stove" ..Red hot but the building was so cold we couldn't feel the heat from the stove unless you were right on top of it...That didn't bother us a bit because we were all dancing so much we wern't the least bit cold. Buddie MacMaster keep us busy with his wonderful talant. It was fun to sit out a dance once in a while just to watch him play. He was a master then and from what I hear he still is.

Where did these dances take place? There used to be Legion Hall at the top of the Shore Road, I beleive and then Buddy had barn dances as well but I think that was inthe 70s.

It was probably near the Shore Road but I'm not sure. It's a long time ago. I have been away from home for too many years to count. . All I remember is how cold it was if you took time from dancing to watch Buddy play and the red hot pot bellied stove. The music was the best you could find anywhere. What fun we had! The Judique boys, Ambrose Campbell, Jackie MacDonald, Sandy MacDonald were usually there for those dances. Any one of them would be able to tell you where they were held.
